• Notes: Who Really Wears The Pants In Opera? Emcee Christopher Purdy will relate the fascinating story behind operatic “pants roles” and provide the background for various scenes from Gluck, Handel, Mozart and Strauss operas. The delightful duo, Carolyn Redman, mezzo-soprano, and Jennifer Whitehead, soprano with Sarah Ramsey at the piano, will perform scenes from Orpheus and Eurydice, Julius Caesar, The Marriage of Figaro and Der Rosenkavalier. The rumor is they will sneak in a little Hansel and Gretel and the wonderful Barcarolle from Tales of Hoffman.

Cardinal Health Orchestra helped introduce classical music to kids this past weekend in two performances of Prokofiev’s ‘Peter and the Wolf’ at Dublin’s Abbey Theatre.  Both were well-attended, especially the second, and the children got a kick out of the combination of music, narration, and images.

Cardinal also solicited donations on behalf of  WMC, and I am pleased to report that donations by mail and at the concerts totalled over $1,400!  Cardinal will match the bulk of these donations.    Thank you to everyone who donated, and to Cardinal Health for organizing the event.
