
Women In Music-Columbus provides opportunities for students of all ages. Individuals and groups visit local preschools and elementary schools to present musical programs and demonstrations. These programs are presented by qualified members/groups who have passed the WMC audition requirements. Three annual competitions provide opportunities for young performers to demonstrate their talents. Click on a link below to find our more about these special events.
WMC's Scholarship for Advanced Music Study is open to all students enrolled in a music degree at a local college or university. Auditions will be held on will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008, and the winners will perform on the March 9th, 2008 public concert "Sundays in the Huntington". Three winners will be chosen. The First Place winner will receive a $1,500 award; the Second Place winner will receive a $750 award, and the Third Place Winner will receive a $300 award. Local professors, professionals and conductors make up the panel of three to four judges.
WMC Scholarship Auditions for Advanced Music Study:
Saturday, March 1, 2008 8 a.m - 3:30 p.m.
Huntington Hall, Capital University
College students, up to age 27, enrolled in a music program in any Central Ohio school are eligible to compete. The competition is open to piano, winds, strings, percussion, and voice. Information will be mailed to college professors and will be available on the WMC Web site (www.womeninmusiccolumbus.com) prior to the competition. Winners will perform on the March 9, 2008 Huntington concert.
